Harry Hickox was an American actor, probably best known for his role as Sergeant Orville King on the short-lived 1964 sitcom "No Time for Sergeants." The novel that the show was based on inspired a number of different versions in the post-World War II years, including a Broadway play, a live television program starring Andy Griffith, and a feature film. The book also served as the inspiration for the comedy show "Gomer Pyle United StatesM.C.," but the source material's success unfortunately did not rub off on the weekly series. Hickox also worked extensively in Westerns, starring in everything from low-budget series like "Cowboy G-Men," "The Adventures of Kit Carson," "The Roy Rogers Show," "The Rifleman," and "Bonanza." The actor also had a fair amount of screen time with the legendary brave canine of both the silver screen and the small screen, Rin Tin Tin, costarring with the famed pooch in a few episodes of "The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin." Hickox played a number of small roles in cop shows like "Kojak," "Ironside," and "Adam-12." He was also an experienced stage actor and played Charlie Cowell, the anvil salesman, in both the Broadway and feature film productions of "The Music Man."
